Anant Jaiswal Receives W. Leigh Thompson Excellence in Research Award for Basic Research
Anant Jaiswal, PhD, research associate in the Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism, has been named the Basic Research Faculty Winner of the W. Leigh Thompson Excellence in Research Awards.
Dr. Jaiswal was recognized for his research titled “Setdb2 Orchestrates Metabolic and Pathogenic Triggered Trained Immunity of Macrophages Through Two Different Epigenetic Pathways.” His work explores how macrophages—key immune cells—develop long-term functional changes after exposure to metabolic and pathogenic signals.
By identifying the role of the SETDB2 enzyme in regulating these responses through distinct epigenetic pathways, Dr. Jaiswal’s research advances our understanding of how immune memory forms in metabolic disease and inflammatory conditions. These findings may help inform future strategies for treating disorders linked to immune dysfunction.
